MAYOR MIKE GOT HIGH

Well, at least something got the Middle East off the front page of the Post. It seems our Mayor has the problem of having been honest before he was a politician. Of course, he merely said what so many others in this society already think - the criminalization of marijuana makes absolutely no sense. The criminalization of a harmless drug has led to a disrespect for the rule of law, the transformation of pot into a "bridge" drug leading to harder, dangerous drugs such as heroin and cocaine, and an enormous waste of law enforcement resources. I for one would feel a lot safer knowing the jails were empty of stoners, and full of those who possess something truly dangerous: guns. (Disclaimer to anyone using this weblog to do a background search on me when I fulfill my dream of working for the government: I have never used marijuana, I never intend to use marijuana, and will not let my personal views interfere with a vigorous enforcement of the law).
